CETEARYL ETHYLHEXANOATE: Cetearyl Ethylhexanoate (also known as Cetearyl Octanoate) is an ester of Cetearyl Alcohol (q.v) and 2-ethylhexanoic acid. The ingredient is considered “oil free” and is used in a wide variety of cosmetics and personal care products. Knowns for its high degree of water repellency characteristics which help improves spreadability and is used to improve dry skin conditions.

An study from Germany found that using cetearyl ethylhexanoate can help hydrate skin and prevent wounds from drying out, which prevents trans-epidermal water loss in broken skin.
